    Public Relations/Events Coordinator

    Job Description

    The ideal candidate will be required to support the Administration through the coordination of visual, event organizational and logistical needs.

    Responsibilities

    • The Public Relations/Events Coordinator is responsible for organizing events inside and outside the school which include various marketing activities such as participating in Education Fairs, organizing the School Open Day, tournaments, school summer festival, Christmas festivals, school’s jumble sale, etc.
    • This role also requires the candidate to build and maintain relationships with the school community (parents), including the alumni portal, its environs and embassies, cultural institutions, universities abroad, etc.
    • In addition, this role requires the candidate to build relationships with other international schools/organizations and outreach markets with creative PR concepts for current and future launch programs for continuously uplifting the school’s image.
    • The Coordinator will analyze market trends with a view to maximize the school’s visibility and will optimize the school’s website by enhancing and building it to represent the schools image/mission and vision as well as maintain it.
    • The candidate will be responsible for overseeing function of the School Shop including ordering of marketing material/branding, overseeing product inventory, showcasing and selling of the same.
    • The candidate will be responsible for securing donations from the Embassy, international donors, etc. for equipment – computers, microscope, books, sports equipment, etc.)

    Qualifications for the Public Relations & Events Coordinator

    • Degree in Marketing/Public Relations or both.
    • Languages required: English, Kiswahili, additional language an added advantage.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in coordinating events.
    • At least 1-2 years of communications experience with a not-for-profit institution.
    • Strong media pitching and writing skills, with an emphasis on education and social media required.
    • Demonstrated passion for media relations with a proven ability to secure visibility in the market.
    • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.
    • Accountable, responsible and trustworthy.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibility, handles pressure, and adjusts to meet ever-changing needs.
    • Knowledge of standard PR tools: Microsoft Office, etc. *Basic Photoshop skills are a plus.

    Duty station: Nairobi.

    Anticipated start date: Immediately.
