    IYCF KAP Assessment Health

    Roles

    The consultant task is to carry out a study to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices amongst the communities in Galkayo South regarding health, nutrition and hygiene practices and give a multi-sectoral overview and relevant recommendations that will inform and guide in appropriate interventions in the area. Specifically, the Consultant will complete the following tasks:

    • Develop appropriate tools and instruments for gathering information
    • Present the KAP Methodology at Nutrition Cluster Assessment and information Management Working Group (AIMWG) for validation
    • Review appropriate documents (nutrition survey reports, HIS reports etc.) relevant to the survey
    • Develop the survey plan; be responsible for preparation for the survey, including review of population statistics, calculating the sample size, selecting sample villages and respondents, developing an efficient survey schedule
    • Conduct KAP survey including training of data enumerators, ensure high quality of the data being collected
    • Undertake consultations with key stakeholders and conduct field data collection; focus group discussions, key informant interviews, etc.
    • Process and analyze the data, write and submit a draft report of the survey
    • Present preliminary findings at the Sub-cluster and cluster level, and present the final findings at AIMWG
    • Present the draft report of the findings in a stakeholder forum for comments and feedback
    • Revise and submit a final copy of the survey report including recommendations to International Medical Corps

    Job Requirements

    • Advanced University degree in Nutrition, Health and/ or Public Health and proven experience in carrying out KAP assessments.
    • The consultant is expected to demonstrate a track record of not less than three (3) years of experience conducting similar assessments in a developing country set up with diverse geographic and ethnic/clan compositions. The consultant should also list the scale of similar projects worked on in the past.
    • The consultant must have a strong background in statistics and data analysis
    • Knowledge of the project area and the local language (s) will be considered a plus.
    • Have experience training and working with non-English speakers and people with low levels of education
    • Experienced in use of adult learning methodologies
    • Possess documented experience in conducting KAP studies related to nutrition and specifically to IYCF
    • Excellent reporting, presentation and interpersonal skills.
    • Attachment of all supportive documents with the technical proposal is required.
