Health Program Manager, Country Coordinator
Main purpose of the role:
The Project Manager MSP Kenya is responsible for the implementation and coordination of the MSP project and all activities related to it, including M&E, reporting, liaison, planning & facilitation of workshops, etc.
Positioned in Nairobi, the Project Manager MI is responsible for the supervision of the projects applicable activities and responsible for the coordination thereof. The Project Manager MI furthermore acts as connection between the German initiatives and the local partner structure. The position acts as a constant contact point for all stakeholders in order to harmonize the implementation and to increase public awareness of the initiative. In addition, continuous monitoring and reporting will be guaranteed by this position. Beginning from mid-2019 onwards, the secretariat will take over the main duties of coordination, especially the coordination with the German Project Partners from the different sectors, and the harmonization of the results with the Kenyan part of the project. In addition, the KHF-led secretariat will be supported and supervised, and the different workshops, strategy meetings as well as the yearly meetings with the stakeholders be prepared, in order to provide for a strong participation of the stakeholders and partners from the public and private sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate the successful and timely implementation of the project activities in the MSP Kenya
- Coordinate all activities with core partners and other stakeholders in collaboration with the secretariat of Kenya Healthcare Federation
- Monitor and evaluate regular progress of MSP Kenya based on goals, objectives, and results with attention to core and wider stakeholders and process management
- Assure regular reporting for Malteser International, donors, stakeholder, and authorities
- Ensure qualitative development in health sector for neglected, specialized health professions
- Represent the MI projects at local authorities, partners, NGOs, and donors in regards to MSP Kenya
- Participate and play an active role in coordination meetings, workshops, and stakeholder meetings
- Contribute to the development of local strategies concerning health professionals; ensure linkage to the MI country strategy
- Work on lessons learnt, best practices and possibilities to expand the project scope to ensure sustainability
- Bridge gaps and laisse with other strategic national and international alliances, especially from German sectors
- Support in Health Sector related projects where overlapping occurs
- Networking with stakeholders (MoH, County, Sub-County, partners, donors, etc.)
- Organize and monitor regular project development including site visits to ensure continued progress
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in a field related to public health
- At least seven years hands-on project experience in public health, management, and coordination of teams and stakeholders
- Experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder processes
- Extensive knowledge of Human Resources in Health (HRH)
- Track record of managing grants, projects, and programmatic activities
- Track record of collaborative and integrative project development and reporting
- Demonstrated cooperative approach, including experience in working with Government officials and Ministries on National and County level, private sector, and academia
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops, manage diverse teams and support others in their work
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
- Excellent English oral and written language skills
- German & Swahili language skills are beneficial

Conditions:
Starting date: as soon as possible, preferably 02/2018
Duty Station: Nairobi
Duration of contract (after probation): annual renewal till May 2020
