New Media Reporter at China Global Television Network (CGTN)

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and professional individual to fill the position of New Media Reporter. If successful, you join a team striving to make connections with an Africa-wide audience, telling stories of the African continent from a new perspective.

The new media reporter is responsible for producing engaging, SEO-friendly content and generating news-making and analytical content for CGTN Africa’s digital platforms. He/she will initiate news stories and cover both breaking and pre-planned news.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Create, curate, edit, develop, and help to produce content while engaging users across all digital platforms
• Contributes story ideas and concepts
• Take the lead on digital news, from interviewing sources to reporting in the field
• Maintain an active presence on social media and regularly share and distribute news and information
• Other duties as assigned

Educational Background and Experience

• Bachelor degrees or above, communications/journalism/digital media
• A minimum of two years of experience on producing digital content, reporting news and working in an online/​digital multimedia environment is required ​
• Maintain excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Possess an understanding of and appreciation for a multi-national, multi-cultural work environment
• A strong track record of finding good, newsworthy stories and developing ideas
• A talent for translating complex issues into coherent, lively, and accessible broadcasting
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule depending on trending and breaking new
