Responsible for providing leadership to the Board’s Finance and Accounting Strategy, to optimize the Company’s financial performance and strategic position, while coordinating operations, and ensuring internal controls, accounting standards across the core business departments.
Responsibilities
- Take overall control of the Company’s accounting function by monitoring the day-to-day financial operations within the Company
- Ensure that Company’s financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth
- Lead and develop Finance teams
- Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met
- Manage Company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity disposals as appropriate
- Determine, implement, monitor, review and evaluate budgetary and accounting strategies, policies and plans in consultation with line managers
- Develop and implement financial and operational procedure statements and guidelines for use by other business units
- Asses changing situations and respond accordingly by issuing strategic and tactical directions to various business units
- Review policies and set standards and objectives for the different business units
- Track the Company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
- Research and analyze financial reports and market trends
- Coordinate and lead Annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the Finance Committee of the Board
- Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation
- Recommend strategies to reduce costs and improve profit’s monitoring risk management policies and procedures to ensure that the Company risks are minimized
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce or any Business related field
- A Master’s Degree in a related field
- Chartered Accountant or Certified Accountant – CPA (K)
- At least ten (10) years of professional experience with at least five (5) of which must be at a senior management level in significant organization
- Valid Membership to the ICPAK
- Understanding of the workings of Capital Markets Authority and Nairobi Securities Exchange is an added advantage
