Assistant Soil Technician at NFT Consult

The position will be based in Kenya and will involve significant amount of travelling.

Responsibilities:

• To work under the guidance of the Project Manager or his/her assigned person(s) to implement the various project activities in the target locations.
• Carry out field activities assigned relating to project activities.
• Provide technical assistance and supervisory support to farming communities engaged with the implementation of project activities
• Conduct Soil laboratory activities under laboratory supervisor assigned to him/her
• Collect data and maintain records of activities assigned undertaken under the project
• Assist in training of farming communities

Competencies:

• Be physically fit
• Ability to work in a diversity of cultures and with others
• Good working knowledge of agriculture especially major crops in Kenya
• Effective communication skills in English and Kiswahili
• Proficiency in interpretation of Soil data, use of various software applications (MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel) and exposure to Soil Laboratory;
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with partners and colleagues in a multicultural setting.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a Diploma/Certificate
• A quick learner.
• A minimum of one year experience in agricultural related projects.
• Experience in working in a soil laboratory is preferred.

Note:

The position is on contract basis (2 Months), renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the continuing need for the position.
