Cook / Baker at St. Philip Neri Primary School

Job Description

• to assist in preparation of breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner according to the given menu and instructions
• to be in charge of the bakery project in school daily preparation of bread, rolls, buns etc. for 450 pupils
• monitor oven temperatures, speed settings, mixing machines, and other baking equipment
• ensure food surfaces and baking equipment meet all health and safety standards
• clean and maintain baking equipment, utensils, and tools
• monitor items during baking
• evaluate ingredients and food for quality.
• operate slicing, cutting, and wrapping equipment
• serves food according to established guidelines and replenishes serving containers as needed
• cleans cafeteria equipment, utensils and appliances and stores food supplies; assures compliance with kitchen sanitation and safety
• procedures and regulations; cleans refrigerators and storerooms as required
• assists in storing unused food and supplies; disposes of unusable leftovers; utilizes proper methods of handling foods to be stored
• records amounts of food sold and monies collected as assigned; assists with inventory and maintains routine records as directed; prepares
• records of foods cooked and foods leftover

Requirements

• K.C.S.E certificate, any other additional certificate/diploma will be given advantage
• previous experience as a cook, chef, baker’s assistant, or relevant work experience minimum 3 years, preferably in school setup given high advantage
• able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends
• able to work in a school setup
• able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• self-motivated and self-directed
• works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
• knowledge of sanitation procedures, and state health and safety precautions and regulations
