    Web Developer

    The Web Developer is expected to be able to perform all aspects of the development tasks, including front-end, back-end, and database development that is to be fully responsible for production, modification and maintenance of websites andweb application’s user interfaces. This involves working closely with graphics designer, inusing semantic mark up i.e. (X)HMTL/CSS, to turn their static designs into workingbrowser based web pages. You’ll also work closely with the web systems administrator to implement the server‐side code in order to develop complex, interactive and databasedriven websites.

    Responsibilities

    • Managing contract design and development resources to timely and successful deliveries.
    • Working with clients and review panels to identify recommendations for the appropriate technical, business and human factors solutions.
    • Promoting a collaborative work environment with team members and customers, providing task analysis and technical insight to help develop and deliver the needed capabilities via a mobile web-based environment.
    • Developing and maintaining web-enabled capabilities and custom applications.
    • Leading staff in defining and tracking project requirements, plans, and schedules.
    • Leading program reviews as necessary.
    • Collaborates effectively with creative team and web designers during the creative process.
    • Provides technical leadership and assumes overall accountability for a successful implementation phase on all client projects.
    • Ensures technical solutions are properly architected and specified, and reviews all code for quality assurance purposes.
    • In partnership with technical leads, helps set direction for our technology practice.
    • Advances our growing CMS practice.
    • Responsible for various aspects of ongoing support and maintenance engagements.
    • Partners with project managers and other web developers to successfully manage client relationships.
    • Turns design and user interface mockups into functional websites powered by CMS.
    • In a hands-on fashion, ensures all technology solutions are properly architected and specified.
    • Ensures HTML/CSS is cross-browser and standards compliant and meets
    • Resolves and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
    • Understands how to tactfully communicate difficult/sensitive information.
    • Ensures we are proactive in our pursuit of new solutions and innovation within our technology practice.
    • Advances the firm’s thought leadership, specifically around web technologies, via the company social media outlets and industry events and conferences.

    Qualifications

    • A Degree/Diploma or equivalent and two years of general experience 
    • Must have deep expertise in various web and mobile web applications development using AJAX, HTML, DHTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, SQL, PHP, Java, JSP, MySQL, CGI, PERL, UML, Python, Ruby on Rails, .NET, LAMP and SSJS
    • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities are required.
    • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a deadline driven environment.
    • Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team setting
    • Excellent understanding of database modeling
    • Excellent Software Development Lifecycle
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Creative problem-solving skills and an ability to apply business logic to development requirements
    • Strong knowledge of database and information architecture, with web application integration
    • Cross-browser/platform experience
    • Experience working with, designing and developing Content Management Systems
    • Knowledge of internet advertising, e-mail marketing, traffic metrics, or affiliate advertising is a definite plus
    • Needs to be detail-oriented, resourceful, and work well under pressure
    • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential
    • Proficient in the maintenance and administration of CMS modules and sites.
    • Involvement in and contribution to the CMS community,
    • Familiar with each layer in the LAMP stack from application architecture and system infrastructure points of view; knowledgable and experienced in PHP and MySQL programming.
    • Comfortable integrating websites with other web applications and systems, both commercial and open source.
    • Proficient in HTML/CSS, and client-side scripting libraries. Understands what it takes to develop pixel-perfect HTML that is cross-browser and standards compliant and meets accessibility/disability requirements.
    • Understands web trends, including social media integration and the impact of the growth of mobile/tablet browsing.
    • Very knowledgeable in the area of web content management systems; experience with multiple systems.
    • Versatile; comfortable performing a variety of roles and tasks within the company (examples include: development, technical leadership, training, requirements analysis).
    • Strong written and oral communication skills to a variety of audiences at different levels and with different backgrounds.
    • Demonstrates accountability; owns outcomes and results, prioritizes tasks, and consistently meets deadlines.
    • Thrives on learning and learns quickly. Dedicated to self-improvement and professional development. Takes advantage of various resources to self-educate.
    • Self starter, ability to work with minimal supervision. Equally skilled at working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Excellent problem solving skills. Curious and adept at researching project-related issues and challenges.
    • Actively contributes ideas to professional communities via social media and other outlets. Examples include: blogging, tweeting, webinars, and conference presentations.

    Education and Experience

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and two years of general experience
    • Experience working in a front end development team coding (X)HTML/CSS websites.
    • Knowledge of using Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks or Illustrator.
    • Experience with CSS2, CSS3, XHTML and HTML5 coding.
    • Willingness to improve knowledge of CSS, (X)HTML and other web languages.
    • Developing cross‐browser and cross‐platform compatible solutions.
    • In depth knowledge of current coding techniques and best practices.
    • Good experience with using a PC on a Microsoft Vista/Windows 7 OS platform.
    • A flexible attitude with proven experience of working in a small team.
    • A good understanding of website information architecture to create a website.
    • Knowledge and experience of SEO and web accessibility would be an advantage.
