Role Purpose Statement

Undertake the evaluation and development of the catering product by matching equipment and supplies for greater customer satisfaction and cost effectiveness.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Ensure all safety and security guidelines and regulations are observed and incorporated in all assigned areas and stations
• Assist in updating catering operations manuals and service standards from caterers.
• Review and update catering manual and service standards (Loading Plans) on a bi-annual rotational basis
• Monitor product quality and specifications from all assigned catering stations
• Supervise catering officers to ensure timely dispatch of flights and compliance to Kenya Airways (KQ) catering specifications by all assigned catering units
• Monitor over catering out of all catering stations, match as closely as possible to no show indices and submit a monthly analysis
• Ensure compliance to catering audits and meals selections on all assigned stations and ensure high hygiene standard are adhered to
• Continually evaluate the KQ product to determine how well the product and services meet customer needs
• Ensure that monthly meal surveys are undertaken on assigned routes and prepare quarterly reports for analysis purpose.
• Lead team in customer experience projects and ensure deadlines are met on all related projects
• Analyse and prepare monthly reports on feedback from voyage reports on all assigned stations and OTI’s (opportunity to improve), follow up on necessary action for improvement
• Participate in Customer experience or related committees on behalf of catering team and implement agenda items within specified timelines.
• Constantly evaluate and appraise catering officers’ performance to ensure high performance level in the catering team
• Ensure all contracts to assigned stations are valid and renewal or tendering is initiated in a timely manner
• Drive waste saving initiative projects and monitor savings through smart initiatives to support the departments cost objectives
• Ensure timely supply of catering equipment and supplies to all assigned catering stations
• Ensure monthly catering reports are prepared, submitted and/or presented on the relevant dashboards including actual expenditure against planned budget reports

Required Knowledge, Skills And Experience

• University Degree in Food and Beverage or related field
• At least 5 years experience
• Experience in an Aviation Catering environment (advantageous).
• Experience in budgeting and cost controls
• Computer proficiency
• Good knowledge of in-flight catering product and development cycle
• Knowledge of food safety systems
• Excellent Planning and Organisation Skills

• Industry Knowledge and Expertise
• Leadership Skills
• Certificate in HACCP (advantageous)
• Certification in Lead Auditor (advantageous)
