    Programme Development and Funding Manager Africa Surge

    About the role

    Christian Aid is now looking to recruit an innovative and dynamic Programme Development and Funding Manager to support our development and humanitarian work in the Africa Region. This role provides surge capacity for the team responsible for growing Christian Aid’s institutional funding portfolio in Africa, supporting the country programmes to ensure strong contract management on their funds from institutional donors. The post holder will work closely with Country Managers and programme colleagues to initiate new donor engagements and sustain relationships with current donors; to coordinate development of funding applications; and, to advise and provide support on delivery of on-going contracts ensuring compliance with donors’ and Christian Aid’s regulations.

    This is a senior role working within the Programme Innovation and Funding Group of Christian Aid supporting work across East, Horn and Central Africa. The role will be critical to supporting Country Managers in representing the organization to donors and other external stakeholders, and to improving Christian Aid’s in-country visibility. You are expected to engage at operational and strategic levels at country level to influence Christian Aid’s business models and the way we deliver our programmes.

    This post will be based in our Kenya Country Office in Nairobi and is a 12-month fixed term role, subject to extension.  Compensation will be on the local terms and conditions of service and the salary will be aligned with the local PayScale range for similar positions. These salary range is between Ksh4,869,779 and Ksh5,296,644

    About you

    We are looking for someone with drive, a real self-starter who can build strong internal and external relationships, is numerate, can articulate a case well in writing and in person. Candidates should have a good knowledge and expertise in working with institutional donors on grants, cooperative agreements and tenders, which may include DFID, USAID, European Union / ECHO and UN donors including UN World Food Programme. They will have proven experience of successful bid leadership across development and/or humanitarian grants, alongside excellent communication and networking skills.

    The role also requires fluency in English, and knowledge of Project Cycle Management and monitoring, evaluation and learning methodologies.
