    Corporate Affairs Operations Director (Finance)

    Overall Purpose

    • Provide leadership to the corporate operations of Africa Harvest especially financial management and accounting with a focus on Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) TAAT-2 Banana/Plantain Compact Project and other institutional activities ensuring effective and transparent utilization of financial resources and integrity of services.
    • Ensure promotion of a client-oriented approach consistent with Africa Harvest’s rules and regulations.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate, timely, complete and reliable periodical financial reports.
    • Ensure that all financial transactions comply with set company policies and procedures as well as development partners’ regulations.
    • Duties and Responsibilities
    • Prepare donor reports for the TAAT Project tmanagement and the donor and any reports that may be required in relation tthe Project – this includes maintaining a schedule of funds status for each partner.
    • Supporting and providing guidance ttop management using solid financial accounting procedures
    • Oversee the design and implementation of new processes in the finance system tmake it more accurate and efficient.
    • Ensuring financial data and information integrity.
    • Ensure full compliance with Africa Harvest’s rules, regulations, and policies on financial activities, financial recording/reporting system and follow-up on Board and audit recommendations.
    • Assist with the implementation of effective internal controls, and proper functioning of a client-oriented financial resources management system.
    • Ensure full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other standards.
    • Compute, withhold, account and ensure timely remittance of all payroll deductions and taxes.
    • Budget planning, preparation and implementation, coordinating the preparation of annual work plans, procurement plans and cash management.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    • Masters Degree in Finance with minimum of 5 years’ experience.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a minimum of 7 years’ experience.
    • Accounting, or other related subject; CPA-K, ACCA etc. and member of a professional accounting body;
    • At least 15years’ experience in finance, knowledge of financial requirements by recognized business institutions handling big budgets, international donors and international banks.
    • Knowledge of accounting packages such as Sun System, SAGE, Pastel, QuickBooks etc.
    • Thorough understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and various regional statutory requirements and their application.

    Key Skills and Competencies

    • Knowledge of and ability twork with different financial controls, systems and regulations including accounting, taxation requirements, financial reporting requirements etc.
    • Strong financial management and accounting skills and business acumen.
    • Ability twork with different schedules and tmeet stringent deadlines.
    • Ability twork in a multidisciplinary environment.
    • Advanced MS office Skills.
    • Coaching, mentoring and team development.
    • Experience in negotiating and qualifying investments.
    • Excellent professional attitude with the ability timplement various strategies.
    • Ability tprovide training on budgeting and financial reporting.
