    Armed Violence Reduction (AVR) Coordinator

    Overall purpose of the role:

     The AVR Coordinator will lead the design of the Conflict Sensitive Development (CSD) workstream strategy and activities in the inception and implementation of RE-INVENT program. He/She will input into the Government Engagement Plan, support the identification of collaborating, downstream and resource partners and provide technical support to partners once on-board throughout the lifetime of the project.. 

    Responsibilities:

    Strategy

    • Provide constant political and economic analysis of the national context as related to your workstream
    • Develop the workstream strategy and ensure it is updated at all times
    • Support the Chief of Party by inputting into the Government Engagement Plan and supporting linkages with relevant government ministries/departments
    • Provide strategic leadership to deliver workstream results as well as input into the overall programme strategy
    • Support the Deputy Team Leader in harmonizing programme approaches and delivery across the workstreams and governance levels
    • Work with the MERL Unit, to design the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Strategy and support the implementation of the strategy

    Coordination and monitoring

    • Develop and monitor an annual workstream workplan and budget for national level engagement
    • Work together with the Regional Team to produce an annual regional and county level workplan to ensure vertical integration of interventions and strategies at all levels of governance
    • Work together with the MERL Unit to develop and monitor logframe indicators, intervention logic and a theory of change for the  workstream.
    • Take part in the problem-driven iteration approach (PDIA) review process led by the MERL Unit with all collaborating and downstream partners
    • Ensure  workstream strategy and interventions are coordinated both with other workstreams and at all governance levels

    Reporting

    • Coordinated by the Deputy Team Leader and the MERL Unit, contribute to the quarterly, annual and other project reports as required
    • Review technical content of downstream partner reports to ensure high quality technical reporting
    • Contribute to programme deliverables as they relate to the relevant  workstream

    Partner engagement

    • Together with the Technical Team and Regional Team, identify potential collaborating and downstream partners for your workstream
    • Be the point of contact for collaborating with national partners under your workstream
    • Provide overall technical management of the delivery of collaboration and national partner activities by providing technical assistance and attending activities to ensure set objectives are achieved
    • Provide technical support, direct delivery and training as required to partners on issues related to your workstream

    Experience and technical competencies:

    • At least 4 years’ experience in Project Management and Reporting
    • At least 3 years’ experience in Research (Data Collection and Analysis)
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the ever changing local landscape (including cross border dynamics) as relates to politic, conflict, peace and security are concerned Demonstrate conceptual and practical knowledge on Conflict Sensitive Development

    Education:

    • University Degree, preferably Master's, in International Relations, Programme Management, International Development, Conflict Resolution, Criminology, Law, Management or other relevant field.

    Languages:

    • English - fluent
    • Kiswahili - fluent

    • REINVENT Regional TEAM
    • Collaborating, National, Resource and Downstream Partners

    Conditions  

    Contract: One year contract with possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance. Salary and other conditions are offered in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment.

    Availability:  August, 2019

    Duty station: The position will be based in Nairobi Kenya, Lower Kabete Office.
