General Information
Duties and responsibilities
The Consultant will report to the Director, Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) and/or his delegate as appointed by the Director of OIGI. The consultant will specifically deliver his/her work either individually or within a multidisciplinary team. The ultimate goal and mission of the OIGI is to conduct independent investigations into allegations of misconduct involving WFP staff, contractors and other applicable persons.
Under the supervision and direction of the OIGI Director or his delegate, the Consultant will generally be responsible for the following duties:
Education:
A university degree in finance, criminology, law or any other relevant field. Training from a police academy or another law enforcement agency, with extensive experience in investigations can be considered in lieu of a university degree.

Language:
Written and oral proficiency in English is a must for this position. Knowledge of another UN official language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian or Chinese) or Portuguese is an advantage.
Travel:
This position requires frequent travel to our Field Operations, which are located in over 70 countries in the world, mainly in developing countries. Travel requirements are often on ad hoc basis, are of irregular frequency and may involve travel to hazardous duty stations. On average, each trip lasts two to three weeks.
