    Cook

    Job Description

    • A skilled Cook should be able to prepare delicious meals according to the menu
    • Ability to cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery
    • Ability to follow instructions and/or recipes in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals
    • Must have the ability to move around the kitchen and great at multi-tasking, able to work under high pressure
    • Have a high threshold of heat in the kitchen environment
    • Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important
    • Ability to prepare African meals is an added advantage
    • The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the daily preparation of food items in various stations or other areas of the kitchen
    • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
    • Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications
    • Restock all items as needed throughout the shift and ensure all food and other items are stored properly
    • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills
    • Perform additional responsibilities as requested and directed by the immediate supervisor
    • Work at an efficient and consistent pace
    • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly according to standards and procedures, cleaning surfaces, performing any other additional sanitary measure
    • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages or when required

    Qualifications

    • A college diploma or certificate from a reputable and recognized culinary school will be essential
    • Minimum Two years’ experience in a busy a la carte kitchen
    • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
    • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
    • Ability to work in a team as well as good communication skills
    • Excellent physical condition and stamina
    • A College Diploma from a reputable and recognized culinary school will be an advantage
