Job Purpose

The role holder shall be responsible for supporting accounting functions of the organization by maintaining up to date books of accounts. He/She shall also manage petty cash by ensuring that both collections & payables are up to date.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Preparing payment requisitions and relevant documents and processing payment.
2. Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
3. Ensuring timely payments of monthly bills and utilities to vendors, suppliers and service providers.
4. Tracking and timely recording of locally generated incomes
5. Preparation and submission of Monthly Management accounts in line with the established timelines and templates.
6. Preparing statutory payments such as withholding tax, withholding V.A.T, HELB, NSSF, NHIF, NITA and ensuring compliance with the regulatory bodies.
7. Prepare and maintain records, asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
8. Update accounts receivable and generation of invoices
9. Assist in the reviewing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
10. Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
11. Monthly Bank Reconciliations of all Bank Accounts and petty cash
12. Ensuring compliance with the law and company’s policies.
13. Any other duties Inter alia as assigned by the management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option) or its equivalent from a recognized University.
2. CPA/ACCA Finalist
3. A minimum of 2 years working experience in a busy environment.
4. Highly proficient in Quickbooks and MS Office programs especially Excel and Word
5. Familiarity with the local and international accounting standards.
6. Good interpersonal skills and excellent excel skills.
