Underwriter - Property & Specialty Risks at American International Group, Inc. (AIG)

What you need to know:
Reporting to the Head of Property and Specialty Risks, this role assists in providing technical underwriting support and coordinates service delivery within Property & Specialty department. It ensures key accounts and partners are adequately serviced and all underwriting guidelines are observed when accepting new and renewal business.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Property risks in accordance with AIG Underwriting guidelines.
• Capture all relevant risk information into AIG appropriate systems, ensuring compliance.
• Provide supporting data and reports for team meetings, internal and external meetings, and business plans as and when required.
• Monitor renewal reports and chase outstanding renewal business.
• Ensure timely issuance of policy documents, invoices, certificates, quotes etc.
• Conduct, and develop effective relationships with colleagues in the Property team and other teams, including Claims, Actuarial, Distribution, Compliance, and Finance.
• Support in the issuance of policies relating to Multinational business.
• Conduct and develop effective relationships with Brokers, Agents, Clients and local cedants in the market
• Attend to risk surveys with internal risk engineer to better understand risk.

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Actuarial or related field.
• Diploma in Insurance - AIIK or CII.
• 3+ years of experience working in an insurance company
• Underwriting experience in Property and Specialty Lines
• Self-starter who is not afraid to take initiative and has a high level of self-sufficiency and is a team player
