Job Description
- The Assistant Director, Business Development and Resource Mobilization, KEWI 4 reports to th Deputy Director, Business Development and Resource Mobilization KEWI 3.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -
- Coordinating the development and implementation of policies and strategies relating to business development and resource mobilization;
- Facilitating analysis of data in the water sector in line with business development plans;
- Identifying and mapping out potential areas of business development and resource mobilization;
- Reviewing proposals for funding;
- Initiating surveillance on water sector dynamics and undertake training needs assessment for short courses and develop regular courses aimed at developing capacity;
- Promoting uptake of emerging technologies and innovations in the water sector;
- Coordinating the development and review of short courses that are reliable, valid, acceptable, cost effective, purposeful, contributing towards continuing education and filling the gaps realized;
- Disseminating the organizational Business Environment reports and provide informed initiatives to grow business; and
- Coordinating the development of marketing strategies and initiatives for all academic and business development programs.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
- Served for a cumulative period of twelve (12) years relevant work experience three (3) of which must have been in the grade of Principal Business Development Officer or in a comparable position;
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Entrepreneurship Development, Economics, Commerce/Business Administration (Marketing) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
- Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Entrepreneurship Development, Economics, Commerce/Business Administration (Marketing) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
- Membership to a relevant professional body where applicable;
- Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- A valid practicing certificate where applicable;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

In addition to the above indicated requirements, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
The following clearances will be required from successful candidates upon offer of job and not at the application stage.
- Certificate of Good Conduct;
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission;
- Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance; and
- Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
