Assistant Director - Cartography at Public Service Commission Kenya (PSCK)

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

• served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Principal Cartographer CSG 8;
• a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Technology in Geoinformatics, Philosophy in Technology (Geo-informatics), Geospatial Information Science or its equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
• membership of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK); and demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability.

Duties and Responsibilities

The officer will supervise the officers below him/her. Duties and responsibilities will include:-

• verifying drawing of survey and cadastral plans, registry index maps, boundary schedules and preliminary index diagrams;
• verifying topographical base maps;
• checking the National Gazetteer of geographical names;
• analysing and processing geospatial data;
• maintaining and updating map records controlling map dissemination overseeing servicing and maintenance of cartographic equipment
• controlling quality of cartographic data sets produced; and
• initiating research on new cartographic techniques.
