    Assistant Director, Legislative Affairs - 4 Posts

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • Served for a minimum period of three (3) in the grade of Principal Legislative Affairs Officer, CGS 8 or a comparable and relevant position in the wiser public service;
    • A Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) from a university recognized in Kenya;
    • A Post-graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
    • Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with at least four (4) years post admission experience; and
    • Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a thorough understand of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to management of legislative affairs.

    Duties and Responsibilities 
    Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-

    • Initiating development and review of the Government Legislative Agenda
    • Initiating analysis of existing and proposed legislation and statutory instruments on National Government priorities;
    • Coordinating identification of the legislative gaps in the realization of the National Government development agenda and recommend appropriate interventions;
    • Developing the Government Legislative Agenda;
    • Coordinating monitoring on compliance of MDAs to statutory and administrative requirements relating to legislative development processes;
    • Coordinating the preparation of reports on MDAs compliance to statutory and administrative requirements relating to legislative development processes;
    • Organizing periodic fora with MDAs to identify challenges in legislative development process;
    • Identifying and recommending mitigation measures to address challenges in legislative development process;
    • Developing and reviewing a framework on development of priority legislation;
    • Analysing the priority legislations in line with the national development agenda;
    • Developing guidelines, procedures and processes for formulation of National legislation;
    • Developing and coordinating implementation of tools for monitoring and tracking legislative development processes; and
    • Designing, developing and maintaining Legislative Agenda Tracking Information System.
