Assistant Director Solid Waste Management (Field Services) at Mombasa County Public Service Board

Job Description

• Planning and coordinating solid waste collection, cleansing, source separation and transportation services.
• Developing work plans and schedules for waste collection and cleansing services.
• Implementing departmental policies, strategies and procedures relating to field services.
• Supervising staff involved in waste collection, cleansing, loading and transportation.
• Coordinating deployment and utilization of waste collection vehicles and equipment.
• Coordinating public education and stakeholder engagement on waste collection and responsible waste handling.
• Monitoring compliance with approved procedures and standards for waste handling, collection and transportation.
• Coordinating field operations with relevant stakeholders and service providers.
• Monitoring waste collection and cleansing performance and recommending corrective action.
• Preparing reports on waste collection, transportation, fleet and field operations.
• Advising on operational challenges and service delivery improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental management, environmental engineering, waste management, natural resource management, engineering, public administration or a related field from a recognized institution.
• At least three (3) years' relevant experience in solid waste management, waste collection, transportation, sanitation, environmental management or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of waste handling, collection and transportation operations.
• Knowledge of county and national legislation relating to solid waste management.
• Completion of a strategic leadership development course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
• Member of environment institute of kenya (eik) or a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
