Assistant Project Manager at Nariana Enterprises Ltd.

Role Summary

• We are looking for a results driven and technically strong Assistant Project Manager to join our Project Management team.
• The successful candidate will support the Project Manager in managing the complete lifecycle of projects, from tendering and technical evaluation through sourcing, manufacturer engagement, procurement, client coordination, installation, commissioning, training, and final project handover.
• This is a highly hands on role requiring someone who is comfortable dealing directly with clients, end users, consultants, suppliers and international manufacturers.
• The ideal candidate must have a strong engineering background, excellent understanding of technical specifications and the ability to independently take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

• Assist in planning, coordinating and managing projects from award through to successful completion and handover.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, deliverables, procurement requirements and key milestones.
• Coordinate internally with procurement, finance, logistics and technical teams to ensure projects remain on schedule.
• Attend and actively participate in client, consultant and end user meetings.
• Follow up aggressively on outstanding actions to ensure projects progress without unnecessary delays.
• Support installation, commissioning, testing and training activities at client sites.
• Travel to project sites within Kenya and, where required, within the region.

Tendering & Technical Evaluation

• Review tender documents, Bills of Quantities, technical specifications and contractual requirements in detail.
• Interpret technical specifications accurately and identify suitable manufacturers that comply with client requirements.
• Prepare technical compliance schedules, equipment schedules, technical submissions and supporting tender documentation.
• Work with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain quotations, technical documentation, datasheets, authorisation letters and other required documentation.
• Assist in preparing both technical and commercial tender submissions.
• Monitor upcoming opportunities and support the company in preparing competitive bids.

Equipment & Instrument Sourcing

• Identify suitable manufacturers, suppliers, and technical partners locally and internationally.
• Evaluate equipment based on technical compliance, quality, price, lead time, warranty, after-sales support and suitability for the intended application.
• Engage directly with manufacturers through email, online meetings and technical discussions.
• Negotiate commercially where required and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Develop a strong understanding of specialised engineering, laboratory, testing, instrumentation and related technical equipment.

Installation, Commissioning & Training

• Participate in installation and commissioning of supplied equipment and instruments.
• Coordinate with manufacturers, technical specialists and client teams during installation activities.
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues during project execution.
• Support end user training and demonstrations.
• Ensure all installation and commissioning documentation is properly completed.
• Coordinate successful handover of equipment and projects to the client.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognised university.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Previous experience in a similar role involving project management, tendering, technical equipment supply, engineering projects or instrumentation is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting technical specifications.
• Experience sourcing engineering equipment or technical instruments from manufacturers and suppliers.
• Experience dealing directly with clients, consultants, end users and manufacturers.
• Experience preparing technical and commercial tender submissions.
• Practical exposure to equipment installation, commissioning or technical project execution will be an advantage.
• Experience working on government, institutional or donor funded tenders will be an added advantage.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Valid driving licence will be an added advantage.
• Must be willing to travel to project sites within Kenya and the region when required.
