Assistant Radiographer at Kenyatta National Hospital

Job Purpose
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Radiographer in the provision of radiography and imaging duties in the Hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform a range of radiographic and sonographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images;
2. Processing, verifying and maintaining x-ray films for patients.
3. Promoting and maintaining a safe environment for staff and patients
4. Maintaining infection control measures in the work environment
5. Ensuring availability of relevant supplies in the imaging room
6. Providing care to the patient while ensuring ethical guidelines are followed
7. Providing support and reassurance to patients, taking into account their physical and psychological needs; and
8. Keeping up to date with health and safety guidelines, including ionizing radiation regulations
9. Participating in all appropriate and necessary meetings and committees.
10. Mentoring and coaching students on practical attachment
11. Promoting and maintain a safe environment for staff and patients

Qualifications and Experience

1. Higher Diploma in Sonography or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
2. Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
3. Certificate of registration from a relevant professional body.
4. Valid practicing license from a professional body.
5. Certificate in Computer Applications.
