    Captain

    Accountability

    • He/she shall conduct operations while adhering to KCARS and Jambojet standards, be responsible for the safety of all crew members, passengers and cargo on board when the doors are closed. He shall be responsible for the operation, safety and security of the aircraft from the moment the aircraft is ready to move for the purpose of taking off until it finally comes to rest at the end of the flight and the engines (s) used as primary propulsion units are shut down.
    • In joint authority with FOO, make decisions, functions, duties or tasks associated with the operational control so as to ensure safety and security of a Jambojet flight.

    • Make decisions on risk tolerability when safety risks and security threats are unacceptable and acceptable.

    Responsibility

    Among other duties, the Captain shall;

    • Flight Safety: The Captain is responsible for the safety of the aircraft, crew members, passengers, and cargo throughout the entire flight.
    • Decision Making: The Captain makes critical decisions related to the flight, including determining whether the conditions are suitable for takeoff and landing, selecting the most appropriate flight route, and deciding on the necessary actions in emergency situations.
    • Crew Leadership: The Captain provides leadership and direction to the flight crew, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and teamwork.
    • Flight Planning and Execution: The Captain plans and executes flights in accordance with legal and company policies and procedures, ensuring safe, efficient, and economical operation of the aircraft. This includes conducting pre-flight inspections, reviewing weather conditions, calculating aircraft performance, and determining fuel requirements.
    • Operational Compliance: The Captain ensures compliance with operational procedures, checklists, and the aircraft's Operations Manual. They verify that all required procedures and checklists are followed by the flight crew.
    • Passenger Safety and Service: The Captain ensures that passengers are briefed on safety procedures, emergency exits, and the use of safety equipment. They also maintain overall responsibility for passenger well-being and satisfaction.
    • Aircraft Maintenance and Airworthiness: The Captain is responsible for ensuring that the aircraft and its equipment are in a serviceable condition before the flight. They report any known or suspected defects and ensure that required maintenance procedures are followed.
    • Regulatory Compliance: The Captain maintains familiarity with relevant international aviation regulations, practices, and procedures, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
    • Communication: The Captain maintains effective communication with air traffic control, ground staff, and the cabin crew, ensuring clear and accurate information exchange.
    • Emergency Response: In the event of emergencies, the Captain takes immediate action and follows appropriate emergency procedures to ensure the safety of the aircraft and its occupants.
    • Training and Professional Development: The Captain stays current with training requirements, completes regular proficiency checks, and participates in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills.

    Knowledge skills and experience

    • Minimum 4000 total flight hours with at least 2000 P1 on aircraft weighing 20 tonnes and above.
    • Crew Resource Management trained
    • Holder of valid ATPL/Instrument Rating
    • Minimum educational qualification of mean grade C or equivalent. Higher qualifications will be an added advantage.
    • Accident/incident free
    • ICAO Language proficiency of Level 4
    • Must possess strong inter-personal, communication and organizational skills.
