    Chief Finance Officer (Re-advertisement)

    Our client is a fast-growing organization in the agricultural value chain, from manufacturing and value addition to the export of quality agricultural produce. The business is headquartered within greater Nairobi and has interests in various parts of the country. This is a commercial, for-profit business with a strong Christian faith-based ethos and purpose. The next phase of the business will present enhanced challenges and an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to fill the newly created position of Chief Finance Officer.

    GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

    The position's key responsibilities are:

    1. Manage local and international investor relations including fundraising, compliance, Government relations, reporting and supporting board requirements.
    2. Direct, manage and oversee budgeting, accounting, cashflow management and controls. To ensure timely, accurate and efficient reporting, audit, and compliance.
    3. Providing oversight to the Human Resources function and leading the Information Technology strategy.

    SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Establish and evaluate business capital requirements, implement raise funds plans and monitor covenant compliance.
    • Manage a constant SWOT assessment and raise strategic and tactical recommendations on-going.
    • Manage the processes for financial forecasting, budgets, and accounting. Review actual performance against budget and report with appropriate commentary of variances and recommendations. Manage cash management including forecasting and tracking cash flow.
    • Provide strategic input and participation in key Corporate Actions like strategic partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, and any other progressive business ventures with necessary projections.
    • Direct the analysis of new proposals providing commercial and financial input, particularly in relation to new products and initiatives.
    • Support the Board and its initiatives, with clear and timely communication on all relevant governance, compliance and risk matters.
    • Ensure that all necessary policies and procedures to safeguard assets and minimize financial and commercial risks are in place.
    • Maintaining timeliness, accuracy and adequacy of financial and management reporting provided to the management, Board and other stakeholders.
    • Build and retain high-performance finance, accounting, human resources and IT teams.
    • Ensure the completeness, timeliness and accuracy of legal and statutory compliance on finance and secretarial matters, with no major non-compliances following internal and external audits.
    • Coordinate and liaise with all internal and external partners including third-party vendors and consultants and ensure efficiency and transparency.
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all transactions. Be responsible for the verification of all transactions.

    EDUCATIONAL & COLLATERAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master’s degree in business or economics and a Member of ICPAK.
    • Ten (10) or more years of experience at a senior level in a commercial environment with broad exposure to all levels of management reporting. Demonstrated board support with strategic input is required.
    • Experience in fundraising for start-ups and high-growth manufacturing or services-oriented businesses required.
    • Outstanding strategic, problem-solving, negotiation, complex accounting, communication and change management skills.
    • Experience providing leadership and oversight to accounting and finance, HR and IT functions required.
    • Proof he or she is an independent thinker able to negotiate, persuade and influence high-level decision-making at the top levels of business and Government.
