    Chief Manager, Legal Services

    Job Grade “3”

    Advert Ref: No. KWS/63/2021

    Reporting to the Corporation Secretary/Director Legal Services, the overall responsibility will be to assist with effective and efficient management of corporate affairs, managing litigation and review of progress of outstanding litigation matters and compliance with enabling legal matters and other relevant legislations.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Advising the Service on various legal matters and monitoring the compliance of the Service with various applicable regulations;
    • Managing litigation and review of progress of outstanding litigation matters;
    • Support provision of services by the field Legal Officers;
    • Oversee compliance issues within the Service;
    • Providing timely legal advice to assist the Service in making an informed decision;
    • Support in the development of Board calendars;
    • Liaising with Attorney General’s (AG’s) office and advising the Service on legal matters;
    • Attending to legal matters of the Service including advising, vetting and drafting of legal agreements in relation to the Service’s operations; and
    • Liaising with the functional units on queries or legal matters that should arise that relate to the Service’s affairs.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution;
    • Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines; Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law;
    • Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
    • Must be Certified Public Secretary in good standing;
    • Experience in handling litigation in court;
    • Management course lasting not less than Four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • At least ten (10) years relevant work experience four (4) of which should have been in a management role in the Public or Private Sector;
    • Proficiency in computer applications;
    • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution; and
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
