About the role

The Chief of Staff will serve as a critical partner to the CEO partner, collaborating with the broader management team on projects and ensuring we drive a culture where we can execute and innovate quickly. There will also be projects that must be independently run and where hands-on execution is critical.

A successful candidate comes with experience in successfully driving cross-functional projects, knows how to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced business environment, and can communicate effectively.

Responsibilities will include

1. Support senior management in developing, formalizing and implementing strategies around every aspect of company growth and organizational improvement
2. Own, manage, coordinate and drive execution for strategic projects. Lead strategic initiatives from development to delivery
3. Improve organizational effectiveness, enhance organizational procedures,and increase employee engagement
4. Develop relations with new suppliers and further strengthen relationswith existing suppliers
5. Enhance planning in Operations and Sales by introducing new forecasting tools and ensuring adaptation by internal users
6. Assist with team building, hiring and mentoring to the wider business
7. Drive sales initiatives with the organization in new markets hereunder Nairobi

Skills required

1. You have 5+ years of experience in Project Management and/or Business Operations roles in high-growth organizations
2. You have experience working in a global organization, having built strong partnerships with stakeholders across diverse cultures and background
3. You have a solid commercial understanding obtained from past work experience, ideally from the FMCG sector
4. Work experience from East Africa is a big plus, as understanding and navigating well in this cultural setting and business environment is crucial for success
5. You have experience working in a cultural setting different than your own and get energized by working together with people with different cultural backgrounds than your own.
6. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and you also possess a good level of attention to details.
7. You may have worked with operations in another start-up environment where things evolve fast and you know how to maintain a healthy organization under such circumstances.
8. You can rally a team behind your ideas and drive the team to deliver.
9. You feel comfortable in leading by example and you are not afraid of having to carry out mundane tasks in the process of getting the job done.

Practical information

The position is based in Mombasa, Kenya. Significant amount of travel within the country will be required. A competitive package based on experience will be offered to the right candidate.

The package would include relocation costs involved with moving to Kenya for work.
