Chief Superintending Engineer (Mechanical) at Mombasa County Public Service Board

Job Description

• Undertaking consultancy services, equipment utilization and maintenance, and planning and development functions.
• Checking and advising on standards for vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Coordinating disposal of vehicles, plant, equipment and other mechanical stores.
• Standardizing procurement procedures in accordance with the applicable procurement law.
• Coordinating technical consultancy services with other public and private sector institutions.
• Controlling, directing and supervising equipment maintenance activities.
• Coordinating and supervising preparation of expenditure forecasts for maintenance activities.
• Monitoring expenditure on mechanical maintenance activities against the department’s approved votes.
• Coordinating preparation of equipment maintenance progress and output reports.
• Coordinating inventories of vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Monitoring utilization and availability of vehicles, plant and equipment and implementing measures to improve availability.
• Overseeing staff welfare and discipline within the mechanical engineering function.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Served in the grade of senior superintending engineer (mechanical) or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years.
• Registration as a professional engineer with the engineers board of kenya (ebk) and a valid practising licence.
• Current valid annual practising licence from the engineers board of kenya.
• Completion of a strategic leadership development programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
• Demonstrated general administrative ability required for direction, control and implementation of mechanical programmes, including supervision of professional and technical staff.
