    Communication and Information Assistant

    Eligibility criteria

    Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

    Description of task

    Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, Djibouti Code of Conduct, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

    • Support the communications needs and develop communication strategies for the Subdivision for Maritime Security and Facilitation and DCOC Project, specifically profiling activities being implemented and impact to member States.
    • Support the development of, and thereafter, upkeep of the DCoC website
    • Assist in the development of communications products including project fact sheets, briefs, project reports, monthly or bi-monthly bulletins and annual reports among others
    • Support the development of communications messaging, materials and campaigns
    • Write success stories, newsletters and features.
    • Support the team in developing a video and digital photo library
    • Ensure that DCoC branding and messaging is consistent in all relevant documents and publications.
    • Assist the DCoC external relations activities and media events including exhibitions, report launches, press conferences, receptions and meetings
    • In coordination with the Project Manager expand the organization’s presence in social media including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc.
    • Assist to disseminate DCoC advocacy materials
    • Carry out other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Program Manager

    Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, international relations, public relations or related field;

    Required experience: 36 Months Experience remark:

    • At least, three years progressively responsible professional work experience in internal or external communication; social media work, public relations; or journalism; of which two years ideally should be with online resources;
    • Proven internal communication experience, particularly with practical knowledge of intra-net management (both content and technical aspects);
    • Proven experience of managing web resources and dealing with social media networks, with a focus on content development, writing, design and multimedia;
    • Excellent spoken, writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to translate complex ideas and concepts into reader-friendly language;
    • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas, as well as impart knowledge and teach skills;
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills; as well as good organizational skills;
    • Proven ability and experience in photography, both still and video
    • Ability to plan and work in a high-pressure work environment under tight deadlines. Professional experience
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
    • Excellent IT skills
    • Thoroughness and excellent attention to detail in all responsibilities, ensuring accuracy in delivering and implementation
    • Knowledge of maritime transport or Maritime security will be an added advantage.

    Language Skills

    • High level of proficiency in English. Knowledge of French will be an advantage.

    Other Knowledge And Skills

    • Excellent computer skills, in particular with MS Office.

    • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
