CONSULTANTS ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The consultant will conduct a systematic literature review by undertaking a thorough desk research of all literature on health products launched in Africa from 2000. The purpose of this review is to identify all academic papers and grey literature from key non-academic stakeholders published since 2000 that potentially contain evidence of health or economic impact across the set of approved products.
- Provide a high-level summary of each paper’s findings. This will include both positive and negative findings.
- Deliver a detailed summary focusing on findings in relation to health impact.
- Conduct desk research of various extrapolation or modelling methodologies from individual impact estimates of valuation for different areas/products/disease that have been used in the past studies to identify best practice and strategies for this process of extrapolation.
- Using representative sample of nations, diseases and product types, the consultant will extrapolate costs, health, and economic benefit for certain health products.
- Provide input and research into other elements of the overall impact modelling – principally health impact extrapolation and flow-on economic impact.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- PhD or Masters degree in Health Economics, Economics or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in economics analysis.
- Knowledge of methods utilized in economic valuations of products.
- Knowledge in economic modelling at micro and macro level.
- Experience in conducting systematic literature review.
- Excellent communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and program management skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work both independently and in teams.
