Data Analyst at Text Book Centre (TBC)

Main responsibilities and accountabilities:

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our stationery department. The position holder will provide financial information, reporting, trend, sales analysis and commentary on the business performance and work closely with the Category Manager and departmental teams across the business. You will be involved in contributing to decisions with supporting insights that shape the business direction and partnering with delivery teams to maximize earnings and deliver on performance targets. Reporting to the Category Manager, this position will be responsible for listed responsibilities accordingly.

Duties

• Work with designated departmental and cross-functional teams.
• Develop functional models and complete trend and comparative analysis, to craft business decisions.
• Partnering with the business to maximize earnings and deliver performance targets.
• Assist with providing high-quality data inputs to the reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare monthly Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) report.
• Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve category performance                                                                                       
• Work as a member of the stationery team to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the category function across the business.
• Working with the business on ways to continue to improve data analysis for current business requirements and processes.
• Participate in the development of management reporting systems to improve existing procedures or the communication of management information.
• Responding to the daily and often changing business demands.

Qualifications and responsibilities:

• Minimum BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or related field and 3+ years of related experience. MS/MA degree in related discipline will be an added advantage.
• Strong accounting and financial modelling skills in a multi-divisional portfolio.
• Proven working experience as a business/investment/corporate finance analyst
• Strong analytical and data gathering skills, highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills.
