Dental Specialist [2] (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon) at Nairobi County

Job Requirement

1. Diagnosis and management of complex oral, cranio maxillofacial diseases and conditions, to prescribe appropriate investigations and formulate treatment plans Providing wholesome patient care in the specialty.
2. Participating in the multidisciplinary management of patients.
3. Performing surgical procedures that include minor oral surgery, surgical oncology, trauma surgery, craniofacial surgery (congenital and developmental anomalies) reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery.
4. Harnessing current technologies in healthcare e.g. Artificial intelligence AI, tele dentistry and innovative measures.
5. Management of infections in the oral, cranio maxillofacial and neck regions.
6. Undertaking call duties and providing emergency management to patients with oral, cranio maxillofacial and neck injuries involving soft tissue and bone.
7. Supervision, training and mentorship of dental officers, dental interns and students.
8. Undertaking medico-legal duties such as completing medical reports, P3 forms and judicial attendance.
9. Conducting targeted and impactful oral health community outreaches/camps e.g cleft lip and palate operations.
10. Taking part in the formulation and implementation of the departmental annual work plans.
11. Formulate, review and implement dental policies, standards, guidelines and protocols.
12. Awareness creation and promotion of preventive medicine.
13. Establishment and maintenance of a dental health information systems.
14. Conducting innovative research of the head and neck region to advance knowledge and provide solutions to existing problem questions.
15. Conducting promotive and preventive aspects of cranio maxillofacial conditions.
16. Strategic planning and risk management of the section.
17. Global and regional collaborations in oral health care.

Job Description

1. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists’ council.
2. Master of dental surgery (MDS) in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery from an institution recognized by the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists’ council.
3. Registered and retained by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and council as a specialist. Dentists
4. Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.
5. Valid Practice License from the Kenya medical practitioners and Dentists council.
6. Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
7. Proficiency in computer applications.
8. At least one (1) year experience as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in a busy hospital.
