Reporting to the Director, University Security Services, Deputy Director will coordinate security services, receive and review security reports and investigate security related incidents.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Provide counsel in the supervision of investigative tasks within the University.
- Report unusual activity or suspicions on safety issues to the Director or management.
- Properly complete incident reports and misconduct reports in the University.
- Prepare and disseminate security reports to be used by management for decision making from time to time as per request.
- Participate actively in professional growth and advancement of skills among the security staff in the University.
- Build and leverage on positive relationship with students in order to keep the University a safe learning environment.
- Lead efforts to escalate inappropriate student behaviors and assist students to maximize their time on educational activities.
- Make recommendations for corrective actions on any emerging issues in the Security department in the University.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree in criminology or security related field, Administration, Business Administration, Social Sciences or in any other relevant areas from a recognized University
- At least KCSE mean grade C+ (Plus) or equivalent
- Must have served as at least Chief Inspector of Police in National Police Service or a Captain in Kenya Defense Forces.
- At least five (5) years’ working experience as a Security Manager or Senior Administrative Officer with experience in security management
- Computer literate
- Valid certificate of good conduct
- Relevant additional training in security operations and investigative skills will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of relevant legislations
- Knowledge of professional standards
- Clean discharge certificate where applicable.
