    Deputy Head of Movement Operations, East and Southern Africa (ESA)

    • IOM, UN Migration Agency in Nairobi, Kenya is looking for a Deputy Head of Movement Operations who will be responsible for supporting the overall management of resettlement projects and movement components of non-resettlement projects throughout East and Southern Africa (ESA) under the guidance of the Head of Movement Operations, ESA.

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

    Education

    • Master’s degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or,
    • University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.

    Experience

    The following are highly preferable for this position:

    • Transportation-related and/or management experience;
    • Knowledge of and prior experience in of IOM's Movement Operations program implementation and administrative, financial and business rules and practices;
    • Experience in project cycle management, preferably in RMM programming areas;
    • A demonstrated record of establishing and maintaining good working relationships with governmental and diplomatic authorities, national, regional and international institutions, as well as civil society actors; and,
    • Experience serving as a donor liaison and writing donor reports.

    Skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with and lead a team;
    • Demonstrated proficiency with IGator, MiMOSA, and Amadeus; and,
    • Excellent computer skills and a high level of proficiency in spreadsheet and database applications.

    Languages

    • IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
    • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
    • Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
