Eastern Africa Director at Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi)

Reporting line

• The Director East Africa Reports into the International Development Director
• Interactions
• Is a member of the International Network and part of the global leadership team, the Global Executive Team
• Chairs and drives the Senior Management Team in Nairobi.
• Works with the R&D, External Affairs and Operations teams, and with the global leadership team of DNDi and GARDP.
• Coordinates with other African RO and works with the other RO directors and teams to converge, leverage and synergize. Contributes actively to global platforms
• Finally, and together with other regional directors, works in close collaboration and complementarity to respond to DNDi agenda for Africa

Experience

• Minimum 15 years’ relevant experience including several at senior management level in Public Health and/or R&D Institutions in Africa.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure is critical.
• Experience building and leading teams in a dynamic and multi-stakeholder environment.
• Proven track record in public health, public private partnerships, and organizational development; additional track records in fundraising and advocacy would be a plus.

Education

• Master degree or Ph.D. in Public Health or related area.
• Medical degree is a plus
• Senior and strategic Management training.

Other Requirements

• Fluency in English.
• Proficiency in local languages: Swahili and others also desirable.
• Willingness and ability to travel globally.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
