Technical Manager at eBiashara Africa

JOB DESCRIPTION, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The technology consultant shall:

1. Provide tactical technology leadership to manage and enhance technical operations of the company.
2. Present practical input for strategic technology decisions within eBiashara and the customer organization.
3. Support preparation of Technology Roadmaps and tactical execution plans.
4. Comply with all professional, industry, departmental as well as company best practices.
5. Help translation of business requirements into technical needs and actions that result in products.
6. Supervise reporting responsibility for independent contractors, software engineers and outsourcing partners and their resources.
7. Partner with customers and technology stakeholders to elicit, analyse, translate, and document people (e.g. capacity building), processes, and platforms (i.e. technology systems) requirements
8. Document and act as the subject matter expert on business processes and technology to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing
9. Work within customer project teams to deliver incremental business value to customers. Identify any potential conflicting business requirements, definition gaps, dependencies between projects and escalate to customer or project sponsor to formulate a resolution plan
10. Support the prioritisation of design requirements within customer organization with an informed understanding of the impact to the organisation
11. Maintain accurate, version controlled, documentation over the project lifecycle, which is readily available to key stakeholders, and ensure the knowledge is disseminated
12. Prepare all required Technical Proposals pertinent to the eBiashara business.
13. Administer support for Business Development, Systems Engineering, and Technical personnel.
14. Supervise training and development of technical and pre-sales staff.
15. Support to recruit engineering personnel, technical staffing and project teams formation.
16. Supervise engineering deliverables.
17. Manages continuing support and provide system metrics for client facing products.
18. Ensure all engineering personnel is suitably trained to perform all job function and suitably use project and software related tools.
19. Develop innovative products and services centred around the cloud.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

1. Excellent communication skills (written & oral English), including the ability to communicate with technical, non-technical, internal and external stakeholders across different seniority levels.
2. Strong requirements elicitation skills and the ability to translate loose business needs into tangible outcomes including technical specifications.
3. Comfortable with Agile solutions delivery approach including familiarity with User Stories, Product Backlog Management and Sprint cycles.
4. Proven business process engineering and continuous improvement skills.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate/mediate; to facilitate the resolution of conflicting business requirements.
6. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent understanding of business complexity of both internal and external project interdependencies.
8. Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas.
9. Proven experience in facilitating productive workshops, preferably in multi-cultural, multi-national contexts.
10. A strong work ethic and able to take the initiative and ownership to deliver value to the business.
11. Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally.

Desirable:

1. Knowledge and experience in software development and engineering

QUALIFICATIONS

• University degree in engineering, IT or Computer science
• Over 5 years’ experience in a CTIO or technical manager role
• Evidence of trainings completed in relevant industry certification in cloud, DevOps, or Networks.
• Project Management Qualification such as PRINCE2, PMQ or Agile Project delivery
