    Electricity Expert Manager

    Overall Responsibility

    • The Electricity Expert Manager 2 is the electrical safety expert in the Center of Expertise (CoE). With a global scope, the ideal candidate develops technical, institutional guidance and policy in their domain of expertise to mitigate the risk of serious electrical incidents. Within the CoE, they also coordinate and cooperate closely with Finance & Administration Managers (FAD), Premises, Water and Habitat and Logistic teams to deploy a strategy reducing the risk of security incident in delegations. The incumbent is accountable for effective and efficient planning, monitoring, and delivering services in line with the service level agreements.

    Tasks and responsibilities

    • Responsible for the evaluation, planning, budgeting, monitoring and implementation of new Electricity Safety Program (ESAP) Projects as well as ESAP related maintenance activities of the electrical installations in delegations.
    • Acts as the focal point for all ESAP communication and reporting at the institutional level.
    • Responsible for the updates of ESAP’s technical documentation library that defines assessment, intervention, and maintenance methodology as well as the minimum electricity safety compliance standards.
    • Reviews the prioritization of interventions, and planning of projects and anticipates the need for deployment of the electricity safety managers from NAI or ABI - coordinates with the Wathab HR Manager in HQ and the concerned delegations.
    • Supervises ESAP projects in delegations worldwide, either on site, remotely or by deployment of electricity safety manager.
    • Plans and conducts assessments, preventive maintenance on electrical installations in ICRC premises.
    • Consolidates the Electricity and Energy Centre of Expertise (EE CoE) financial situation as well as the program implementation progress and highlights.
    • Provides regular reporting to the head of EE CoE and Geneva headquarters assigned departments.
    • Anticipates and requests to the delegations the preparation of the procurement orders for the necessary tools and material prior to the start of a new ESAP Project in a new delegation.
    • Monitors the procurement of ESAP materials by close contact with Geneva Logistics and the respective delegations Logistic team.
    • Monitors the availability of tools and materials for ESAP works in delegations worldwide.
    • Plans and conducts trainings to premises maintenance technicians about protective measures and wiring regulations.
    • Develops the training program with regards to e-learning.
    • Develops the training strategy to target Water and Habitat engineers and ICT technicians
    • Supports Water and Habitat, Fleet, and ICT with electrical expertise.
    • Draws up technical documents (drawings, bills of quantities, contracts etc.) for electrical engineering projects using approved formats.
    • Manages and supervises several ESAP site managers and electricity safety teams globally.
    • Responsible for technical supervision with regards to protective measures and wiring regulations during the planning of all electrical projects where the EE CoE is involved.

    Minimum Requirements and competencies

    • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent; a sound expertise in low voltage electrical installation, especially protective measures and wiring regulations is required.
    • Fluent command of both spoken and written English and French is an asset.
    • Minimum 10 years of professional experience is a requisite.
    • Sound expertise in lightning protection systems.
    • Experience in coordinating complex programs and managing teams, including logistics.
    • Experience in supervision of construction sites with low voltage electrical installations.
    • Proficiency in use of electrical tools and measurement equipment and electric power tools, sound practical experience in installation of electrical systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams.
    • Ability to compile technical reports and make presentation of the same to supervisors and related persons.
    • Proficient in the use of IT Office Tools and electrical drawing software.
    • Experience in conducting training about electrical installation related topics and training program development.
    • Certificate for training methodology and didactics.
