    Facility Maintenance Assistant (USEFMs only)

    Duties
    Performs construction project inspections and assists the Facility Manager (FM) with oversight of locally employed staff and American escorts in the Facility Management Office (FAC). In accordance with the local building code and safety requirements, oversees maintenance and construction projects in Government owned and leased properties. Serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on construction and maintenance contracts for FAC. Manages the staff responsible for work orders and authorizing procurement requests. Partners with the FM to provide direction and managerial functions to support FAC staff. Assist with performance management, conduct reviews, and hiring. The jobholder will be directly supervised by the Senior Facility Manager. This position requires a Top Secret Security Clearance.

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE:  

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility management, maintenance operations, construction, or real estate property management, including managing multidisciplinary personnel is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:

    • Understanding of construction principles and construction drawings is required.
    • Working knowledge of maintenance operations and procedures, international building codes and inspection practices is required.
    • Knowledge of general safety principles that apply to work and living spaces is required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Two years of college studies is required.

    Evaluations:
    LANGUAGE:

    • English Level IV (fluency, reading/speaking/writing) is required.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Advanced managerial, supervision and scheduling skills. Ability to effectively delegate as appropriate and provide technical and organizational guidance during time-sensitive situations. Have excellent project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills. Ability to write statements of work, staff notices, and performance management documents. The jobholder must have a valid Kenyan drivers license. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to use DOS proprietary software (ILMS/Ariba/MyServices/GMMS).

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: 

    • Develop documentation of computer programs according to instructions and specifications; 
    • Install and configure computer systems; 
    • Maintain application systems; 
    • Provide IT user support and Train users on effective and efficient use of ICT facilities; 
    • Prepare and maintain network documentation and up to date equipment maintenance register; 
    • Install, configure and monitor Local Area Network components; 
    • Assist users in the Active Directory, e-mail server and User applications; 
    • Update and maintain the Institute’s website; 
    • Maintain and update the ICT Inventory
    • Troubleshoot, Service and repair/fix ICT equipment; and 
    • Performing regular data and application backups. 
    • Prepare, review and update I.T Standard Operating Procedures 
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisor. 

    Person Specifications
    For appointment to this grade an officer must have:-

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution; 
    • 2 years working experience
    • CompTIA Certification (A+, N+), Microsoft Certifications or Cisco (CCNA) will be an added advantage.
    • Knowledge and experience IT support or IT Technician roles
    • Knowledge of Windows operating systems
    • Practical experience with internet and network security protocols
