    Farm and Supply Chain Economics Manager

    Position summary:

    The Farm and Supply Chain Economics Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring our impact area “People have improved economic wellbeing" will become a reality, by supporting our organization’s strategic development and implementation of workers’ living wage and households’ livelihoods, in close coordination with the Lead, Farm & Supply Chain Economics and the wider team. 

    As a member of the Livelihoods and Human Rights team, the Farm & Supply Chain Economics Manager will be key to providing support to Rainforest Alliance’s living wage work as well as key livelihoods economics issues. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Gather, manage, and share knowledge, information and resources on living wage and livelihoods economics topics with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Manage living wage and livelihoods economics projects, including monitoring of deliverables, being first point of contact and maintaining relationships.  
    • Support Livelihoods and Human Rights colleagues in developing the thematic vision and intersection with other themes and incorporating this vision into strategic interventions. 
    • Provide technical expertise and economic analysis related to the certification program and donor- and company- funded projects on living wage and livelihoods economic issues.
    • Support the implementation of the Rainforest Alliance certification program, related tools, and guidance.
    • Provide ad hoc support to the work of the Livelihood team as required.

    As a specialist working alongside others in RA, the holder of the position of Farm & Supply Chain Economics Manager is expected to:   

    • Prioritize strategically and keep an agile approach; ensuring templates, white papers and example proposals are available to source from. 
    • Lead all aspects of RA’s interest, rather than from their programmatic expertise area only; thus, work as an integrated team so that programs and projects are strengthened through deep and current subject knowledge and inclusion of all subjects appropriate to the opportunity and purpose.
    • Ensure seamless, effective, and service oriented processes for collaboration cross-functionally.
    • Collaborate closely with Corporate Engagement and Partnerships, Data and Tech, Growth and Innovation, the regional departments and others as needed to achieve integrated Standards & Frameworks and Thriving Landscape offerings and support account management.
    • Ensure that the data and dashboards coming out of the Data and Technology portfolio is applied to enhance programming.
    • Ensure use of the data from the Producer Centricity programs such as the Community Listening Program.
    • Ensure clear RACIs are in place and respected; and Go-No-Go and Where-We-Work protocols are respected and implemented. 
    • Ensure organization wide learning on the programmatic expertise areas is effective. 

    The position holder will be expected to cultivate teamwork and support the team in driving impact. By defining clear priorities and enabling creative viable solutions to complex problems through robust yet flexible decision-making processes, the position holder will contribute to a data-driven and conscientious culture. 

    Qualifications: 

    • First degree in Economics, Business, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or related studies, and master’s degree in Agricultural Economics or MBA.
    • Minimum 5 years professional (and field) experience in agricultural economics related work, preferably with experience in the global south.
    • Experience in supply chain economics, and particularly Living Wage.
    • Knowledge of certification programs in the context of living wage, livelihoods and sustainability practices.
    • Experience in the sustainable production of at least one of Rainforest Alliance focus crops (cocoa, coffee, tea, banana) would be preferable.
    • Experience in fundraising, including the design of complex proposals and projects, with bilateral or multilateral donor agencies and company partnerships.
    • Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Additional languages in particular Spanish and/or French are an asset.
    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
