    Finance Intern

    Job Summary

    The Finance Intern will be key in supporting the Finance and Administration Unit at the MWA Kenya while he or she gains relevant experiences and skills for the job market. The Intern will support in proper maintenance of accounting records, data entry, filing documents & retrieval and any other administrative functions.

    Finance duties

    • Raising all supplier payment and ensuring that they have complete and accurate backups which include PRF, LPO, delivery notes and invoices and receipts.
    • Managing petty cash by making out ONLY payments that are fully approved by relevant signatories. Ensuring cash receipts are issued for all payment/travel advance balances paid into the MWAK and ensuring that they are banked within 2 days of receipt
    • Maintain an excel petty cash and payment journal which are properly coded
    • Manage and maintain accurate financial information in QuickBooks database through monthly recording
    • Monthly bank reconciliations
    • Stamping all payment vouchers “PAID” and filing them in an orderly and systematic manner
    • Manage and prepare monthly inter - company billings for all payments made on behalf of Headquarters/partners

    Administrative and logistics duties

    • Maintain the office inventory/assets and stationery records and ensure that they are secure and properly used as per Donor policy.
    • Coordinate all logistics for field trips, external travel, working conferences, technical working group meetings and program management team meetings
    • Implement vehicle management policies and procedures like vehicle insurance, licensing, disbursement of fuel cards as per MWAK policy
    • Prepare all the vehicles fuel efficiency reports.
    • Ensure that all utilities are settled in a timely manner monthly
    • Maintain proper records of office lease agreements and manage all utility, maintenance,

    SKILLS QUALIFICATION:

    • Must have completed undergraduate studies within the last two years in the fields of Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, Business Management, or any other relevant field. CPA qualification is an added advantage.
    • Must have attained a first class or second-class honors upper division in undergraduate studies.
    • Strong report writing skills.
    • Good interpersonal, communications, and facilitation skills in English and Kiswahili languages.
    • Ability to multi-task and deliver tasks within short deadlines.
    • Proficiency in IT (MS Word, Excel, Access and Power Point).
    • Experience in computerized Accounting Packages (QuickBooks preferred).
    • At least 2 years of work experience in a busy finance department in a Nonprofit organization.
