Job description:

• The Finance Manager oversees all accounting functions, financial reporting, and fiscal compliance mechanisms of the Hospital. This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of financial records, managing tax compliance, managing cash flow, and providing senior management with actionable financial insights to drive operational efficiency and overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management

• Direct month-end and year-end financial closing processes to produce timely and accurate financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Oversee general ledger accounts, reconciliation processes, and journal entries to ensure full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory guidelines.
• Audit transactions across departments to maintain data integrity across accounting systems and enterprise resource planning software.

Cash Flow Management & Treasury Operations

• Monitor daily cash flows, perform banking reconciliations, and manage working capital to optimize liquidity.
• Supervise Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, enforcing aging limits and credit control policies.
• Oversee payroll processing, statutory deductions, and vendor disbursement schedules.

Taxation, Compliance & Audits

• Ensure full compliance with Kenyan and statutory tax obligations (e.g., NSSF, SHA, PAYE, withholding taxes).
• Lead external and internal audit processes, serving as the primary liaison for auditors, tax authorities, and financial regulatory institutions.
• Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.

Budgeting & Cost Control

• Assist executive leadership in preparing annual budgets, departmental operating models, and financial forecasts.
• Perform monthly variance analyses comparing actual operational costs against budgeted targets, highlighting areas for cost reduction.
• Monitor equipment, inventory, and capital expenditures in coordination with operational and procurement leads.

Key Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is required.
• Minimum of at least 4 - 6years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior accountant, finance manager, or chief accountant role.
• Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Sage, QuickBooks, or SAP), alongside advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
• Expert knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, financial reporting regulations, internal control frameworks, and budget management.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to details.
