Responsibilities:

• Coordinating the functions of various finance units              
• Supporting the month-end closing process.
• Supervising accounts clean-up process
• Follow up and closure of all audit matters.   
• Leadership in the system project change and the subsequent integration with the banking platform.
• Ensuring processes and controls within the department are working effectively to deter/detect fraudulent activity.                                   
• Ensuring compliance with all business and regulatory requirements.                                       
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis, reports, and guidance as and when requested.
• Monitoring and managing the organization’s bank relationships and liquidity management.
• In charge of supervising receipt, payments, and bank reconciliation tasks.    
• Managing foreign currency exposure and foreign currency payments.
• Cash flow management and forecasting.
• Investments placement and management of the custodial relationship for the securities in place.  
• Provide leadership, supervision, and manager employee’s performance appraisals.
• Offering technical support to staff.

Key Deliverables for this position 

• Ensure regulator’s reports are prepared and submitted within the set deadlines.
• Balance sheet clean up
• Ensure bank reconciliations are prepared and reviewed by the 10th of every month
• Ensure external audits and internal audits are facilitated by providing requirements in time and by offering explanations where required and clearance of audit queries within agreed time.
• Proper cash flow management
• Follow up and closure of all audit matters.   
• Process improvement

Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in Finance and Accounting. 
• CPA (K) or ACCA certification.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar reporting role in a big and busy company. 
• Understanding and experience in insurance accounting   
• Experience managing teams
• Sound understanding of accounting principles.
• Knowledge of banking relationships and covenants.
• Ability to work autonomously and be part of the broader team.
