• Bachelor of Science Degree in any of the following fields; - Fisheries & Aquaculture,  Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences, from a recognized Institution.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies

• Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

Previous relevant work experience required.

• This is the entry and training grade for fisheries officers or in-post designates (originally Diploma holders but attained Bachelor degree)

Job Description

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for implementation of fisheries and aquaculture projects and programmes in the sub-county.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

• Receive and compile fisheries related statistical data from field officers;
• Analyse fisheries data and preparing reports;
• Undertake monitoring, control and surveillance of the fisheries resources;
• Undertake fisheries extension activities; maintaining of ponds at fish farms and hatcheries;
• Inspect fish and fish handling facilities at fish markets and farms;
• Promote fish marketing and value addition of fish and fish products;
• Undertake fisheries extension activities;
• Maintain fish farms, hatcheries and fish ponds;
• Participate in enforcement of fisheries law;
•  Undertake market surveys;
