    GLFx Chapter Africa Hub Officer

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary focal point for GLFx chapters across Africa, managing day-to-day communication with chapter representatives, convening regular meetings, engaging on digital platforms, and supporting the development of knowledge and visibility materials.
    • In collaboration with the GLFx team and relevant GLF units, design and deliver activities and programs that strengthen engagement, learning, visibility, and collaboration across the Africa chapter network, while ensuring chapters’ meaningful inclusion in GLF events, communications, and learning initiatives.
    • Support the GLFx Coordinator in implementing the GLFx strategy and priority activities, tailored to the region and chapters, including facilitating contributions from Africa chapters to program development and Steering Committee processes.
    • Lead the design and coordination of sessions featuring GLFx Africa chapters within GLF global and regional conferences, including plenaries, Action Corners, dialogues, workshops, and special trainings; and coordinate the design and delivery of Community & Action flagship programs in Africa, such as Assemblies and Field Exchange programs.
    • Work closely with the GLF Communications team to elevate stories, achievements, and insights from Africa-based chapters across GLF platforms and channels.
    • Foster collaboration, peer learning, and knowledge exchange among Africa chapters and across the wider GLFx ecosystem, including CIFOR-ICRAF scientists, GLF Charter Members, and partner organizations.
    • Lead the onboarding of new Africa chapters and supporting their smooth integration into the GLFx network.
    • Design and coordinate transparent, equitable processes for the allocation of resources and opportunities for GLFx Africa chapters, including grants, travel support, representation, equipment, and learning opportunities, from launch through selection.
    • Coordinate and support the review and selection process in collaboration with the GLFx Coordinator and relevant committees, ensuring timely follow-up and clear communication with selected organizations.
    • Provide practical technical support to Africa-based chapters, including responding to grant-related queries, guiding chapters through CIFOR-ICRAF administrative processes (e.g. Letters of Agreement, fund transfers), supporting compliance with institutional guidelines, and assisting chapters in organizing data for impact reporting.
    • Collaborate with the GLF Africa Regional Hub Coordinator to advance the Africa regionalization agenda through targeted engagement with GLFx chapters.
    • Carry out additional responsibilities, as needed, to strengthen the GLFx program and enhance chapter participation and impact.

    Education, knowledge and experience

    • University degree in a field relevant to sustainable development, landscape restoration, conservation, agroecology, community development, or related disciplines.
    • Fluency in English and French is required, with the ability to work confidently in both languages in professional contexts.
    • Demonstrated experience working in or in close collaboration with field-based restoration initiatives, social movements, or community organizing processes, particularly in locally led or community-driven contexts.
    • Previous experience leading, co-founding, or actively participating in a local organization or community-based initiative is a strong asset, particularly where this involved restoration, advocacy, or collective action.
    • Experience collaborating with local organizations, grassroots initiatives, and international institutions in multicultural environments.
    • Strong capacity to coordinate projects and partnerships, including planning, implementation, follow-up, and basic reporting.
    • Ability to produce clear, high-quality written content for diverse audiences.
