Job Purpose:
The Group Head of Strategy & Transformation & Chief of Staff serves as a vital link between the Regional CEO/CEO and the rest of the organization. The role holder is responsible for leading the Group to develop and implement policies, processes, tools, and systems to allow it to deliver strong thesis led strategies and priorities. The role holder is accountable for the successful execution of the strategy and the desired outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Performance and Realization of Strategic Objectives:
- Work closely with the CEO/Regional CEO to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plans. Ensure that the company’s goals are communicated effectively throughout the organization and that all departments are aligned with these objectives.
- Lead Large Scale Strategic Initiatives
- Co-design and shape the strategic outcomes for the priority strategic initiatives, investments, and strategy re-designs that are responsive to and help achieve I&M’s business objectives.
- Review on a continuous basis the delivery of strategic impact against defined business case and advise on areas of improvement.
- Work with cross functional teams to identify gaps in the business or capabilities portfolios and advise on make, build, buy, or partner decisions to best fill those gaps.
- Establish an effective strategy monitoring and control framework and toolset to govern the formulation, development, execution, and oversight of corporate strategy.
- Integrate the strategy monitoring and control framework to the Capital planning, Budgeting and Financial reporting processes.
- Facilitate periodic strategic performance reviews and quarterly forward-looking strategy reviews including a review of strategic assumptions & changes to competitive landscape with a view to identifying challenges to effective execution.
Promote Growth and (internal) Customer Satisfaction:
- Provide strategic business partnership, thought partnership, and coaching to leaders of the organization.
- Effect robust communication strategy to offer clarity to internal and external stakeholders of our vision, key goals, and strategic focus/priorities.
- Forge value streams to greatly enhance team outcomes and synergies across the organization.
- Provide rigorous data and scenario analysis to inform business outlook and planning.
Enhance Governance and Quality of Internal Processes:
- Define and formalize the overall strategic planning process, shepherds the Group & Subsidiaries through the process, definition of scorecards and monitoring execution of the Group and Country strategies against plan, the strategy cadence process, and the review processes. Ensure alignment at all levels of the business.
- Establish greater transparency and accountability for those people carrying out the Group/Bank’s strategy.
- Assess whether strategic initiatives, at all levels of the organization, are in line with the company’s standards and objectives.
Driver of Change Execution Agenda:
- Prioritization and Strategic Project Management: Join multiple internal improvement projects to help the project owner set realistic goals, create appropriate work plans, manage stakeholders, and achieve results. This will also include early warning monitoring for key strategic projects.
- Special Projects: Lead/oversees critical strategic projects within the Bank/Group. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, while also meeting the desired outcomes.
- Governance and Resourcing: Implement a resolute transformation governance including defining the frame, expected impact and resource availability for key projects. The role holder also recommends resource allocation to priority initiatives.
CEO Agenda and Continuity:
- Ensure the CEO and Senior Leadership Agenda (including Governance) is focused on key priorities and manages the continuity and progress of key actions and follow ups from both the Board and Management Meetings.
Financial Responsibility:
Yes. Responsible for delivery of outcomes for the key priority initiatives/Responsible for delivering the impact from the strategy.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Social Sciences, or any other related course.
- MBA desirable.
- Project Management Certification desirable.
Work Experience Required:
- 12 years’ relevant experience with over five (5) years in a senior management role or significant engagement with executive management.
- History of performance excellence in demanding roles incl. senior stakeholder engagement.
- External experience within peer financial institution or management consulting.
- Experience in organizing and directing multiple teams and departments.
- Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives.
