    Head Chef 

    Impala Club is seeking a highly skilled & experienced Head Chef 

    The ideal candidate will be a Kenyan citizen who has the following Key Qualifications

    Professional Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma in Culinary science or related certificate
    • Proven experience as Head Chef
    • Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
    • Possess Basic culinary arts skills

    Key Duties and deliverables

    • Managing food and beverage operations and Club functions within a budget and to the highest standards
    • Ensuring that kitchen staff adhere to quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards
    • Managing the inventory and ordering stock as needed
    • Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen equipment and organizing repairs when needed
    • Planning menus by consulting with the General Manager and Food & Beverage manager; estimating food costs and profits; adjusting menus as necessary.
    • Running a profitable kitchen in line with applicable margins provided
    • Preparing the budgets, including projections of all kitchen and food requirements, labor costs, and staffing levels.
    • Ensuring consistency in meal preparation
    • Design menus that enhance customers’ culinary experience while keeping up high quality.
    • Training the kitchen staff to ensure the food is prepared according to budget and required standards. 
    • Staying up-to-date with culinary trends and kitchen processes
    • Evaluating staff performance and managing the team to deliver desired results
    • Responsible for staff work schedules and leave management
    • Performing a regular inventory of food supplies and equipment. 
    • Projecting for future needs and placing orders to ensure that they are met.
    • Ensuring that the kitchen adheres to sanitation, health and safety laws.
    • Ensuring that the food operations are controlled in a manner which reaches the desired cost of sales and maximizing potential and optimizing resources.
    • Coordinating closely with procurement to ensure the kitchen requirements are consistently met in terms of quality and quantity.
    • Ensuring that guests receive excellent service and enjoy their culinary experience
    • Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen equipment and organizing repairs when needed
    • Handling complains that may be raised by the Member/Guests.

    The Head Chef will report to the Food & Beverage Manager.

    Key Competencies

    • The ability to constantly perform well in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment
    • Excellent organizational skills to ensure the smooth running of a kitchen
    • In-depth knowledge of all the sections in a kitchen to efficiently manage operations
    • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a kitchen team
    • Solid financial acumen, including the ability to manage a budget
    • Creativity and superior culinary skills to create exceptional dishes for an establishment’s menu
    • Computer literacy, including a working knowledge of relevant software programs, such as a point-of-sale system and Microsoft Office
    • Business acumen to make sound decisions regarding things like menu prices, costing and kitchen processes.
