Job Purpose Statement

The role will cover Underwriting responsibility for all sizes of consumer and corporate clients from SME to multinational accounts; managing the establishment, implementation and evaluation of production and profitability initiatives. This position has direct accountability for the business results of Auto and Personal Property by ensuring profitability, penetration and/or volume within the country. The role also Identifies and underwrites profitable accounts within underwriting limits; maintains and grows relationships with producers/intermediaries in conjunction with the Business Development team.

Ideal Job Specifications
Academic:

• Degree in Insurance/Actuarial or related field.
• Master’s degree in a business-related discipline will be an added advantage.
• Must have Insurance Technical qualifications – Diploma or Advanced Diploma (CII/ACII/AIIK)
• Marketing qualifications will be an advantage
• Proficiency in IT applications widely used for business.

Work experience

• At least 10 years relevant experience in General Insurance and at least 5 years in senior management role
• Experience in building relationships and influence with diverse cultures
• Strategic Business Planning
• Good working knowledge of Data Analytics tools.
• Proven ability to perform well under pressure and regularly meet strict deadlines a fast-paced environment
• Must have current membership with the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK).
