    Head of Data

    • We’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist to lead our moderately sized data team, spread accross several locations. Successful candidates will have the ability to design, implement and provide strategic direction on all data products such as models, aggregate databases, IoT data pipelines and DaaS credit scores. They will manage a team of analysts, scientists and engineers and contribute directly to the strategic vision of data products and the use of data at EEA.

    Main Activities

    • Unlock the potential of off-grid electrification with an innovative and informative data science and analytics strategy
    • Direct management of Data Team members
    • Identify and work with external stakeholders for dataset access or creative outsourcing
    • Continue to build and support a diverse and mostly local team of data specialists based in Kampala or Berlin
    • Oversee and provide guidance on the development of data pipelines and all reporting services

    Experience And Skills
    Experience :

    • 5+ years of industry experience
    • Experience managing mid level engineers directly and the ability to build a team of data specialists based across East Africa and Europe
    • Demonstrated expertise in strategic analysis to impact decisions.

    Qualifications :

    • Masters or PhD in a relevant discipline (Data Science, Software Engineering, or another relevant STEM field)

    Language(s):

    • English
    • French is a plus

    Technology :

    • Strong technical skills, especially in a data analytics/science capacity (ex. pandas, numpy, sklearn, matplotlib, python, R, R shiny)
    • Experience with experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data.
    • Ability to communicate model outputs and analyses to stakeholders at various levels of technical expertise.
    • Ability to define the strategy for development of models
    • Experience deploying predictive models at scale.
