Head of Port Operations at Fracht Group

ROLE OVERVIEW

• The Head of Port Operations will manage all port activities, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, shipping procedures, and company policies. The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment to optimize operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Port Operations & Cargo Management
• Supervise and coordinate port clerks and field coordinators for efficient cargo processing.
• Oversee the preparation and processing of shipping and customs documentation, including bills of lading and import/export documents.
• Monitor cargo movements and vessel schedules to minimize delays and optimize operations.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, port procedures, and company policies, resolving any operational discrepancies.
• Implement and maintain effective systems for cargo tracking, documentation, and quality control.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Issue Resolution
• Liaise with shipping lines, port authorities, customs officials, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth cargo clearance. Investigate and resolve operational challenges, including equipment breakdowns, labor shortages, and security issues.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive efficiency and improve service delivery.
• Leadership & Team Management
• Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management to the port operations team.
• Ensure the safety and security of personnel, equipment, and cargo in line with industry standards.
• Drive continuous process improvements to enhance customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Diploma in Customs Clearing & Forwarding is an added advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in port operations, shipping, or logistics.
• Proven leadership experience managing port teams and stakeholder relationships.
• Experience in handling special cargo and breakbulk shipments
