Head of Section at Baraka Roses

Key Responsibilities 

• Production management
• Planning of greenhouse activities in consultation with the PRODUCTION MANAGER to avoid unnecessary overtime
• Ensure that all greenhouse activities are completed as per the schedule and high standards are maintained
• Close supervision of the harvesting process in order to minimize harvesting mistakes and mixed cut-stages
• Ensuring post-harvest processes and procedures are adhered to, and post-harvest solution is changed before commencing harvesting
• Keep managers updated on all greenhouse activities
• Ensure the roses leaving your greenhouse is of ultimate high quality standards
• Maintain high standard of hygiene/sanitation in your greenhouses and the surrounding always.
• Carrying out periodical appraisals for your team members
• Labour management
• Allocating specific work to all greenhouse staff/ (Growers)
• Ensure punctuality of all greenhouse staff
• Ensure that all greenhouse staff get a day off once a week
• Training of workers on all aspect of crop husbandry, health and safety
• Ensure health and safety of workers is not compromised i.e. re-entry periods are strictly observed
• Ensure that staff welfare issues are addressed urgently
• Ensure team work spirit is enhanced within the team members
• Pest and Diseases Management
• Ensure that the greenhouse curtains are well managed depending on the weather condition so as to minimize the pest/diseases incidences
• Work closely with the scout for timely identification and reporting any diseases or pest in early stages for ease of control
• Working closely with the spray SUPERVISOR on the spray program implementation so as to avoid time wastage by growers
• Perform any other duties as allocated by your seniors from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS.

• Should have at least a Diploma in agriculture worked in flower industry for more than 3 years.
• Has worked as a section head for 2 years or more.
