Head of Tech at Tech Care for All Africa (TC4A)

Role Overview

• We are seeking a Head of Tech to lead our technology function. This is a practical leadership role: you will oversee development of our platforms (backend in Python/Django, frontend in React/Vue.js, PostgreSQL database), ensure system reliability, and deliver new features at speed. You will guide a small team, manage integrations, and ensure data security as we expand across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement the technology roadmap in line with business priorities.
• Manage day-to-day software development, testing, and deployment.
• Oversee cloud hosting, uptime, and platform performance.
• Ensure compliance with data protection and security standards.
• Lead rapid feature development (assessments, flashcards, AI tools, integrations).
• Mentor and coordinate a small team of developers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience, including some leadership responsibility.
• Strong technical expertise in Django/Python, React/Vue.js, PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with SaaS infrastructure and cloud hosting (AWS, Hetzner, or similar).
• Ability to balance hands-on coding with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience in healthcare or e-learning is a strong plus.
